Job Description
Acquisition •Acquire programs from distributors, university and church departments, and independent producers for broadcast on BYU Television, KBYU-TV, and BYU Television International. •Oversee the coordination of acquisitions with internal and external personnel. •Work with internal and external producers to develop programs suitable for broadcast. Schedule programs for television channels and distribution venues •Schedule programs effectively in order to maximize the viewing audience, serve community needs and fulfill program strategy •Oversee the coordination of program schedules with other BYU Broadcasting channels •Present program schedules to management and other departments Coordinate with other BYU Broadcasting departments, distributors and producers •Participate in discussions regarding new BYU Broadcasting initiatives and productions. •Review internal programs throughout the production process. •Provide other BYU Broadcasting departments and other program partners with relevant and needed information in a timely manner including schedules, rights information, promotional materials, program descriptions etc. •Oversee program packaging and deliverables •Respond to last-minute schedule problems on a 24-hour-a-day on-call basis as needed •Assist with the national distribution of BYU Broadcasting productions to PBS member stations Administrative oversight of television programming •Prepare, track and oversee area budget. •Ensure that programs and schedules comply with all federal regulations and applicable PBS policies •Supervise the preparation and submission of required federal, PBS and BYU Broadcasting reports in a timely manner, ensure that reports are accurate, and that information for these reports is collected on a consistent basis •Supervise employees within the area including annual review, training, hiring. •Represent television programming internally and externally, including national organizations such PBS, etc. Develop, recommend and implement program strategies •Develop new programming strategies and evaluate existing strategies •Review available relevant studies and suggest new areas of research •Evaluate department activities and procedures and recommend improvements in support of programming strategy, organizational priorities and industry best practices •Oversee the preparation of reports and analysis as needed

Job Requirements
Education A bachelor's degree in communications or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree combined with significant work experience in broadcasting, is required. Experience At least five years of television programming, production or promotion experience is preferred. Experience in contract negotiation, rights management and program distribution is also preferred. Skills The individual in this position will need strong managerial, organization, information management, communication and problem solving skills; as well as the ability to collect, analyze, report and act on relevant data, such as audience studies, community needs assessment, budgets and project reports. The person in this position will be expected to develop recommendations and implement solutions to the complex issues of programming multiple related channels on a variety of distribution platforms. This position requires extensive use of specialized computer program, ProTrack, as well as experience using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. A working knowledge of Access and Google Documents is preferred. The individual in this position must be able to work well with others, effectively represent the University, value work life balance, respect individual contributions, and recognize the power of teamwork within the Television Program Services department.

IT Broadcast Engineering Supervisor

Job Description
Design and Maintenance of Information Technology infrastructure: Provide 24/7 technical support for the organization-wide Apple Xsan system and other computer systems; Provide 24/7 technical support of BYUB network infrastructure; Provide 24/7 support of web-based delivery channels; Provide 24/7 support of BYUB Master Control and Central Server Room; Maintain broadcast computer automation systems to ensure recording and delivery of signal for KBYU-TV, KBYU-FM, BYU-TV, BYU Radio, and BYU-TV International; Provide routing and training for video/ audio paths for delivery of systems; Assist in providing a preventative maintenance plan for Broadcast Services Division to include the inventory of parts and equipment; Assist in the planning and installation of IT, web, production, and broadcasting equipment across the organization. Supervise IT engineering staff: Organize and motivate 3 full time and 8 part time IT staff in accomplishing job objectives; Approve time cards, vacation requests, and other related requests of IT staff; Coordinate with Manager of Engineering on needs of the IT engineering area; Lead and participate in organizational IT design and review meetings. Train Engineering students: Provide technical training to student staff; Provide technical training tests to ensure that operators are fully qualified to handle the needs of the organization.

Job Requirements
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology required Extensive experience and/or training with high-end server technologies strongly preferred Extensive experience with web and other new media distribution technologies strongly preferred Networking certifications and/or experience strongly preferred Ability to maintain highly sophisticated web, production and broadcasting equipment required Experience in Broadcast Engineering is highly preferred Ability to coordinate complex projects and communicate the technical implications to others is essential Ability to train and teach technical requirements and techniques to students
